Two months ago I posted a video advertisement for the Cleveland Cavaliers that referenced a very popular Heineken commercial. Milking the concept for all it’s worth, Snoop Dogg along with Slightly Stoopid, Stephen Marley and Verne Troyer promote their tour by showing off their own walk in closet.

A while back I posted a few videos directed by Dennis Liu. He originally directed an Office (MAC) Viral Video attempt that only went 100,000 far on YouTube. In May, I came across this video and didn’t think it was neat nor exciting enough to post. Since posted on July 9th (less than a week from this post), the following video has received half a million hits.

His studio Traffik Filmworks is responsible for the 2 minute trailer that includes the stylish Hollywood approach to the Office (Microsoft’s). To further it’s reach the social networks Facebook and Twitter have been added to the campaign.

Hitler finds out Michael Jackson has died

It was only a matter of time before someone created this for Michael. Bruno Ganz’s performance in the 2004 Downfall is one of the best portrayals of Hitler and renditions of WWII that I have experienced. This war room scene is literally convincing enough for any translation to work.

My hard drive recently decided to give me I/O errors when trying to boot so my computer’s been out of commission the entire week. Posts as you’ve noticed will be sporadic until Apple returns my iMac.

In the meantime, I came across this interesting safety video for flying on Air New Zealand’s 737-300. It’s essentially the same safety instructions aboard any flight, except this Kiwi airline managed to score 3 million views online by stripping it down to the bare essentials.

JibJab is a company known for allowing users to send personalized greeting cards to friends and family in video form with the assistance of a head cropped photo of the users choice. To promote their services, they released this fantastic animated short involving Barack Obama on a very appropriate weekend.

With the Radio & Television Correspondents Dinner, where Obama delivered yet another rather entertaining speech, and the press coverage of Obama’s reaction to the situation in Iran, JibJab’s video definitely receives many of its views due to the timely release.

Running iPod / iPhone OS on Mac Pro

Running the iPhone OS on your Mac Pro is very appealing. Who wouldn’t want the slickest mobile OS running on a 24″ screen? I’m sure that is what was running through the heads of the couple who created this video, especially with all the 3.0 iPhone buzz over the last week. Unfortunately there are several apparent flaws in the video that automatically discount its credibility.

Many functions are mistimed and don’t line up correctly, for example the multi-touch zoom feature at 1:01 is very inaccurate. Moreover the guy in the driver seat looks highly suspicious “operating” the machine. He is most likely sitting there thinking “1-Mississippi-2-Mississippi-touch-Safari”. Finally it is highly unlikely that that monitor has an accelerometer on it. In spite of all its flaws, the author of the video accomplished his goal by generating a buzz and view count of 219,427 in five days.

Samsung continues to hammer the online market with this original Street Fighter bonus stage spoof showing off their new SSD camcorder. It’s pretty subtle and subversive although the two shots of the H106 distinctively stick out. Despite that, I bet most people who stumble on this video wouldn’t even notice that it is viral marketing for Samsung.
