Professional Playoff Campaigns
With both the NHL and NBA post seasons well under way, it’s not surprising to see franchises release advertisements to play up rivalry and build up excitement for their fans. Thus far, only two teams this year have had their campaigns go viral and drawn attention online.
The Boston Bruins released three short spots highlighting rules that their fans should adhere to: hang up your phone and watch the game, never tuck in your jersey and never date within the division (below). They work because they are short, slapstick and apply to all NHL fans across the board – given your team has made the playoffs.
The Cleveland Cavaliers’ advertisement campaign, believe it or not, is catching the spill of a very successful Heineken commercial that has generated over two million hits. The commercial’s production value isn’t as polished but seeing the Cavaliers go bonkers over shoes is priceless. There’s no question why this video has soaked up almost half of a million hits in less than a week.
